The Official Paul Bunyan Show features many exciting lumberjack and forestry competitions, educational experiences, demonstrations and just plain fun! Use the schedule below in conjunction with the show maps and show guide to plan your visit!

8:00 am - Opening Ceremonies

8:00 am - Flapjacks for Lumberjacks
Join Ohio Tree Farmers in the VFW Building for a scrumptious fund-raising breakfast of Flapjacks with Ohio made syrup and sausage. Location: VFW Building.

 

8:00 am - Ohio Master Logger Re-Certification (additional fee applies, pre-registration required, Master Loggers only)
This class satisfies Master Logger Recertification requirements. Location: Education Hall.

 

10:00 am - Great Lakes Timber Show
This lumberjack show features chainsaw carving, axe throwing, wood chopping, one and two-man crosscut sawing, modified chainsawing, log rolling and loads of clean family humor. Sponsored by Maverick Environmental Equipment, LLC, Rudd Equipment Co. Powell Valley Millworks and Koppers.
Location: Bunyan Blvd. South end of Fairgrounds.

 

​10:00 am - Chainsaw Limbing and Bucking Applications Training

Join the folks from Husqvarna and North American Training Solutions (NATS) for an informative demonstration about how to operate your chainsaw safely like a pro when performing limbing and bucking cutting applications. Sponsored by Husqvarna. Presented by NATS. Location: Husqvarna Chainsaw Arena.

 

11:00 am - Chipper/Grinder Demonstrations

Watch as Columbus Equipment, Bandit, Diamond Z, Aggcorp, Rotchopper and Viably demonstrate their chippers and grinders side by side. Location: Chipper/Grinder Demo area.

11:30 am - Technical Tree Cutting and Felling Training
Husqvarna and NATS will demonstrate how to fell a tree safely like a pro and land it in a designated drop
zone precisely and accurately, utilizing technical tree felling methods and rigging equipment. Sponsored
by Husqvarna. Presented by NATS. Location: Husqvarna Chainsaw Arena.

Husqvarna and NATS demonstrate safe professional Aerial Chainsaw Applications while utilizing technical tree climbing PPE, such as vertical lifelines, positioning lanyards, and climbing spurs to dismantle trees. Sponsored by Husqvarna. Presented by NATS. Location: Husqvarna Chainsaw Arena.

1:00 pm - Ohio State Lumberjack Competition
Watch as lumberjacks from the State of Ohio compete in horizontal chopping, open chainsaw, axe throwing and cross-cut sawing (2 person and Jack & Jill). Open to Ohio residents only. Sponsored by: Columbus Equipment, Murphy Tractor, Stihl, Bryan Equipment. Location: Skills Stadium

Gather round for a hands on dendrology (tree identification) class that is fun for all ages. Attendees will learn to identify common tree species if Ohio. Presented by Jim Downs OSU Extension and Dave Apsley, ODNR Division of Forestry. Location: Education Hall.
 

9:30 am - Chainsaw Limbing and Bucking Applications Training

Bring your Junior Foresters to explore Ohio Trees and Forests, Who Works in the Forest, and why We All Need Trees, using Project Learning Tree! Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12 using activities and resources to engage children in learning about the environment through the lens of trees and forests. Presented by Heather Sheets, ODNR, Project Learning Tree. Location: Next to Little Loggers Play Area

Come and learn about succession planning and what you and your family need to do to preserve your legacy. Presented by David Marrison, Ohio State University Extension. Location: Education Hall.
 

12:00 pm - International Lumberjack Competition

Lumberjacks from the United States and beyond will show their skills in this action-packed competition. Athletes will compete in the underhand chop, open chainsaw, axe throwing, standing block, springboard, Jack and Jill crosscut, two person crosscut and always a fan favorite the hot saws. Sponsored by: Columbus Equipment, Murphy Tractor, Stihl, Bryan Equipment. Location: Skills Stadium.

Need wood? Then you will want to get in on the Wood Auction Action. All timber processed throughout the show will be sold to the highest bidder. Firewood, sawn lumber and more!
