Gather round for a hands-on dendrology (tree identification) class that is fun for all ages. Attendees will learn to identify common Ohio trees. Presented by Jim Downs, OSU Extension and Dave Apsley, ODNR Division of Forestry. Location: Education Hall.

9:30 am Chainsaw Safety and Cutting Techniques 

Join the folks from Husqvarna and NATS for an informative demonstration about how to operate your saw safely, including tips on cutting techniques. Sponsored by Husqvarna. Presented by NATS. Location: Husqvarna Chainsaw Arena.

 

9:30 am Log Loader Competition

Watch as skilled loader operators move a series of logs from one bunker to the next in this exciting, timed event. Experienced operators only. Location: Skills Stadium.

This lumberjack show features chainsaw carving, axe throwing, wood chopping, one- and two-man crosscut sawing, modified chainsawing, log rolling and loads of clean family humor. Location: Bunyan Blvd. South end of Fairgrounds.

10:30 am Holden Arboretum Ohio 2026 Tree Farm of the Year

Join the 2026 Ohio Tree Farm of the Year as they tell you all about their demonstration forests, research, and educational programs! Presented by Anna Carlson, Holden Arboretum. Location: Education Hall.

 

11:00 am Youth Project Learning Tree Activity

Bring your Junior Foresters to explore Ohio Trees and Forests, Who Works in the Forest, and why We All Need Trees, using Project Learning Tree! Project Learning Tree is an award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with youth from preschool through grade 12 using activities and resources to engage children in learning about the environment through the lens of trees and forests. Location: Next to Little Loggers Play Area.

Watch as Columbus Equipment Company, Bandit, Astec, Rotochopper and Viably demonstrate their chippers and grinders side by side. Location: Chipper/Grinder Demo area.

We've all heard the old saying "money grows on trees," but does it? This presentation focuses on how money really can grow on trees and the important lessons you should know before "cashing in." Presented by Jeremy Scherf, ODNR Division of Forestry. Location: Education Hall. 

 

12:00 pm International Lumberjack Competition

Lumberjacks from the United States and beyond will show their skills in this action-packed competition. Athletes will compete in the underhand chop, open chainsaw, axe throwing, standing block, springboard, Jack and Jill crosscut, two-person crosscut and always a fan favorite the hot saws. Location: Skills Stadium. Sponsored by: Stihl, Murphy Tractor and Columbus Equipment Company.
